3MR Promoter of the Year: Golden Boy Promotions

So 2013 has come and gone, so now the debates can begin. And while 2013 saw many great matchups over its twelve-month span, the question must be asked; which promotion is most responsible for the great events we saw this past year? According to the 3 More Rounds end-of-year awards, Golden Boy is the winner.
Golden Boy made huge strides in 2013 by putting on great events in boxing-friendly towns, such as the Canelo-Trout in San Antonio, Texas back in April. The event drew over 40,000 fans, and turned Canelo from a prospect into a star.

In addition, the partnership between Golden Boy and Fox Sports 1 has been a successful one thus far. The two entities have begun putting on Monday night events, and recently, it was announced that they will team up yet again to put on a card in Brooklyn featuring Victor Ortiz against Luis Collazo on Super Bowl weekend.
And finally, it was Golden Boy who was responsible for turning a potential PPV debut for Adrian Broner into a quadruple header on Showtime. The result of this gamble saw a massive audience tune in to watch Marcos Maidana pull off the upset against the previously unbeaten Broner.
Indeed, Golden Boy Promotions helped make 2013 a banner year for the sport, and gave fight fans reason to tune in and cheer. After all, win quality match-ups and great events are promoted correctly, everyone comes out a winner, which of course also included getting Mayweather together with Canelo Alvarez in of the most anticipated clashes of the year. In 2013, nobody accomplished this task at a higher level than Golden Boy.
