Brook destroys Senchenko; Rose wins controversial split decision over Maciel

In an IBF welterweight eliminator, Kell Brook (31-0, 21 KOs) scored a fourth round TKO over former world champion Vyacheslav Senchenko (34-2, 23 KOs) on Saturday night at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, England. Brook avenged countryman Ricky Hatton’s career-ending loss to Senchenko by flooring the Ukrainian in rounds three and four. Senchenko beat the count, but was in no condition to continue. Time was 2:56.

In a WBO junior light middleweight title eliminator, Brian Rose (25-1-1, 7 KOs) won a controversial split decision over Argentinian visitor Javier Maciel (27-1, 20 KOs). In a good action fight, power-punching Maciel landed the harder shots and looked to be the winner after battering Rose in several rounds. The game Rose hung tough for the full twelve and ended up ahead on two cards 117-111, 116-113. Maciel was ahead 115-113 on the third card.
2012 Olympic super heavyweight gold medalist Anthony Joshua (2-0, 2 KOs) scored an easy second round TKO over overmatched journeyman Paul Butlin (14-20, 3 KOs). After Joshua dropped Butlin, the bout was waved off after a bit of further punishment.
In a clash of unbeaten middleweights, Adam Etches (13-0, 11 KOs) scored a first round TKO over Alexandre Mendes (10-1, 9 KOs). Mendes’ corner rather quickly threw in the towel with two seconds remaining in the round after their fighter took some hard punches. The IBF Youth middleweight title was on the line.
Unbeaten super middleweight Callum Smith (9-0, 7 KOs) scored a sixth round KO over Ruben Eduardo Acosta (27-9-5, 10 KOs) to claim the vacant WBC International belt. Acosta down twice in round six. Time was 1:20.
Super bantamweight prospect Khalid Yafai (9-0, 6 KOs) outpointed Abigail Medina (9-3-2, 5 KOs) over six
