Junior featherweight champ Guillermo Rigondeaux (12-0, 8 KOs) is all set to return to action on Dec. 7, as he’ll take on former bantamweight titlist Joseph Agbeko at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
After putting on a skilled, but less than entertaining performance against Nonito Donaire in April, there were questions as to whether or not Rigo would get another date on HBO, but alas, it’s a done deal.
Agbeko (29-4, 22 KOs) for his part, had been on a 15-month hiatus, following a decision loss to Abner Mares in December 2011, after performing well during Showtime’s bantamweight tournament. He finally returned this past March and decision Luis Melendez in Accra, Ghana.
In the co-feature, Matthew Macklin will take on Willie Nelson, while James Kirkland returns to face Glen Tapia in the opening bout.
