Raymi breaks the record: 20-0, 20 first round KOs + VIDEOS

Whatever one may think of strawweight Ali Raymi’s skills or the questionable quality of the opposition he has faced, the 39-year-old Yemeni boxer has entered the boxing history books.

On Sunday at the Sports Stadium in Sanaa, Yemen, Raymi scored a first round stoppage of one Akram Jawfi (with a reported record of 5-0) Ali’s 16th opponent this year. It is therefore official: Ali Raymi has now scored 20 straight first round KO victories, topping the mark of Philadelphia club fighter Tyrone Brunson. However one question comes to mind.

How on Earth are there so many unbeaten professional strawweights in Yemen? None of Raymi’s previous 20 opponents have ever suffered a loss before facing him.

Raymi is currently #15 in the new WBC ratings and #12 in the WBO ratings.

Victime #10
