Tomasz Adamek will decide on Thursday if he's up to fighting on
Saturday afternoon, when he's scheduled to face Vyacheslav Glazkov on NBC. Either way, the show will go on.
Tomasz Adamek is under the weather at the moment, and the Polish heavyweight contender will decide tomorrow if he'll be able to face Vyacheslav Glazkov on Saturday afternoon at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, N.Y., in the scheduled NBC main event.
Promoter Kathy Duva of Main Events says via press release that the show will go on either way.
"This is live broadcast television," said Duva. "We cannot simply postpone. When we learned earlier today that Tomasz had gone to the doctor, we immediately began to discuss contingency plans with our partners at NBC and our hosts at the Turning Stone Resort Casino."
Adamek (49-2, 29 KO) was hoping to score a win on Saturday and then potentially head into a fight with Wladimir Klitschko in 2014. Glazkov (15-0-1, 11 KO), a 2008 Olympic bronze medalist from Ukraine, was aiming to score a career-best victory.
Main Events has sent out "feelers" to possible substitutes for Adamek. The planned co-feature bout between lightweight prospects Karl Dargan (13-0, 7 KO) and Mike Brooks (10-0-1, 2 KO) is still good to go.
