Hughie Fury improves to 7-0 with stoppage of Ivica Perkovic in Ireland

Last night in Dundalk, Ireland, 18-year-old Hughie Fury advanced to 7-0(5) as a heavyweight pro with a 5th-round corner retirement win over Croatia’s 40-fight veteran Ivica Perkovic.

The cousin of world ranked Tyson Fury, Hughie dominated the action before the 39-year-old opted to stay in his corner.

Having fought at a very active rate – Fury has had all seven of his pro bouts this year – Fury is aiming to become the youngest heavyweight champion in history.

On the same card, Steve Collins Junior, the son of the former WBO middleweight and super-middleweight king, won his pro debut. Boxing as a cruiserweight, the 23-year-old from Dublin won a four-rounder against Stanislavs Makarenko of Latvia. Collins Jr. won via a 39-37 margin. He is set to box again at Wembley on October 25th.
