Carl Froch set to face George Groves

Carl Froch (left) vs George Groves (right) is now official.
Matchroom Boxing officially announced an all-British showdown between IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch and undefeated George Groves.
While no venue or date is set, promoter Eddie Hearn expects the fig
ht to take place in Great Britain either in November or December.
Groves (19-0, 15 KO) is currently the IBF mandatory challenger to Froch’s title. He has been moved along quickly in his career, and at age 25 he will be getting his first shot at a world title.
“This is the biggest fight of my career and being a world champion is something that I dreamed of as a kid,” Groves said. “I’m well ranked across all the governing bodies but fighting Carl is the one that I wanted the most. He is a big name in the UK and a well-respected champion around the world, and I have a great team around me that can put together the right game plan to beat him and become a world champion and a major force in the super middleweight division.”
The 36-year-old Froch (31-2, 22 KO) was last seen on May 25 in a very entertaining fight against Mikkel Kessler. Froch was able to avenge his close 2010 loss to Kessler by winning a unanimous decision in his backyard at the O2 Arena in London. Although he finished runner-up to Andre Ward in the super six tournament, Froch appears to have gained more popularity in the sport with impressive victories over top contenders like Lucian Bute and Mikkel Kessler.
“I’m excited the first defense of both my belts is a big domestic clash,” Froch said. “I am a proper fighter and a proper champion and I will always face my mandatory challenger rather than vacate the title. I’ve known George for a while, I’ve sparred with him and watched him grow and now he’s my mandatory – I will be pouring everything into my preparation for the fight and George will face the very best of me.”
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn says this fight feels like a throwback to the 90′s and thinks the fight will grow with anticipation as it gets closer.
“This fight will grow and grow and fans can expect an exciting night and a packed undercard when full details of the fight are announced.”
