Browne vs. Towers, Coyle vs. Rees and Campbell vs. Connolly head Hull triple bill ---- 11/09/2013

Matchroom to return to City on November 2nd
Luke Campbell MBE is set to star in a second huge hometown show as Gavin Rees faces Tommy Coyle and Richard Towers meets Lucas Browne at the Hull Arena on November 2, live on Sky Sports - with tickets on sale at 9am tomorrow morning (September 12).
Olympic Gold medallist Campbell debuted at the MS3 Craven Park in Hull in July and faces Lee Connelly on another cracking bill in Humberside, in what will be his third pro outing after he appears on the David Haye vs. Tyson Fury bill in Manchester.
Fellow Hull fighter Tommy Coyle was in the fight of the night on Campbell’s debut show when he was stopped in the 10th round by Derry Mathews, and he faces former British and European Lightweight champion and ex-World Light Welterweight king Gavin Rees in a mouth-watering battle.
There’s an exciting Heavyweight battle on the bill as Sheffield man Richard Towers’ Commonwealth title eliminator with Lucas Browne finds a home in Yorkshire after their proposed clash was postponed twice previously.
Unbeaten KO specialist Browne has completed 15 of his 17 victories inside the distance and both men place unbeaten records on the line on November 2, with Towers – 14 wins with 11 KOs – certain that the top class sparring he has had will provide the platform for an important night in his career.
“I've kind of been hanging in limbo since the Australia fight was called off,” said Towers. “I was supposed to face Johann Duhaupas and that didn't happen so I'm excited to get the fight with Lucas on again.
“I've sparred with Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye so how can I be rusty? These guys are the best in the world and if I was off the pace they wouldn't have me in their camps. I'm always in the ring and I'm always ready.
“Not wanting to slag Lucas off because he's a good guy and I consider him a friend, but I think he's getting carried away with the stars a little bit because he's banging all these guys out.”
Towers’ promoter Ricky Hatton MBE is delighted to get the fight on and believes the winner will be knocking on the door for major titles.
“The winner of this is going to be right there in the mix,” said Hatton. “It's a great clash of styles. Richard likes to box on the back foot and pull away, Lucas likes to go forwards so I think it'll be an exceptional fight.
“Lucas has been over and boxed over here a couple of time already and he's got a bit of a UK following. This will help him add to that. I think he's just on the verge of the top 15 in the world so it's a big, big fight for him. It'll tell us a lot more about him because this is the first 50/50 fight he's been in.
“Lucas hasn't got the fastest feet in the world, but when you can punch like he does, you only need that one chance.
“Richard boxed on the Velodrome show last year and he wasn't his best so a few people have written him off, but that's the last thing you can do. I think if anyone is going to beat Lucas Browne, Richard has the style to do it. He's got the height, the reach and the jab. It's an interesting 50/50 fight.”
Promoter Eddie Hearn added: “I've been working on a plan to return to Hull since the drive home from the Craven Park show. That was one of the best nights I've been a part of and fans can expect more of the same when we return in November.”
Tickets are on sale at 9am on Thursday September 12 priced at £30, £40, £60 and £100, with VIP tickets priced at £150 – all tickets are available from Matchroom Sport at matchroomboxing.com and on 01277 359900.
