Chisora batters Gerber to win vacant European heavyweight crown + undercard

In a clash for the vacant European heavyweight championship, Dereck “Del Boy” Chisora (18-4, 12 KOs) scored a five round beatdown of Edmund Gerber (23-2, 14 KOs) on Saturday night at the Copper Box Arena in London. Chisora came into the ring in great shape and worked over Gerber during the first three rounds. Gerber connected with two good rights in round four, but Chisora rocked Gerber in the fifth and for the second consecutive fight got a fairly quick stoppage from the referee. In this fight the referee was Guido Cavalleri. Time was 2:50. After the fight, Chisora’s promoter Frank Warren called for a December rematch between Chisora and Tyson Fury, whose fight with David Haye fell through due to a cut suffered by Haye.

In a clash of unbeaten middleweights, Billy Joe Saunders (19-0, 10 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over John Ryder (15-1, 9 KOs) to retain his British and Commonwealth belts in a bout that took place late, late at night. Ryder put up a good effort and punished Saunders in the last round, but it was too little too late. Scores were 115-114, 115-113, 115-113 for Saunders.

Highly touted unbeaten super middleweight Frank Buglioni (10-0, 7 KOs) scored a second round TKO over Bronislav Kubin (16-12-1, 9 KOs). After being dropped by a good right hand, Buglioni jumped back up but referee Phil Edwards waved it off quickly.

Unbeaten Frankie Gavin (17-0, 12 KOs) won a forgettable twelve round snoozefest over David Barnes (27-3-2, 11 KOs) in a bout for the British and Commonwealth welterweight title. Scores were 118-111, 117-112, 118-112.

In a clash of unbeaten super flyweights, Paul Butler (13-0, 7 KOs) outpointed Miguel Gonzalez (17-1, 5 KOs) over twelve rounds in an uneventful fight. Scores were 117-112, 120-108, 119-110. Butler wins the vacant WBO I/C title.

In a clash of unbeaten super featherweights, Liam Walsh (15-0, 10 KOs) won a twelve round majority decision over Joe Murray (14-1, 5 KOs). Scores were 116-112, 116-113, 114-114. The bout was for the Commonwealth and WBO International belts.
Unbeaten middleweight Dmitry Chudinov (11-0-2, 7 KOs) easily outpointed Max Maxwell (16-26-3, 3 KOs) over eight. Score was 79-73. Chudinov pads his record while Maxwell logs his 15th straight loss.
